Le Bon Mot

Not much I have time or inclination to say on this sixth anniversary of the September 11th attacks (that driveway in San Luis Obispo where I first heard the news from a distraught neighbor after walking the border collie/McNabb mix we had the time seems a world away) , but my blog friends have done a fine job of sharing their thoughts with us.

Meanwhile, Joseph Baum's letter to American Spectator Online today made me smile, and that's something.

Here it is:

I have long followed this back and forth argument between what has come to be termed "Intelligent Design," and the pure science version of the existence of the universe. No one has ever answered my question, which is: If you folks who subscribe to this "big bang" theory could only tell me what went "bang," I would join your side in a heart beat.

A good word of a different sort can be found here.

What the Equuschick says about a Vietnam veteran for whom she dog-sits is not to be missed, either.

Joseph Baum has it just right. I'm all on board with evolution right up until we back into the Big Bang. Then I fall silent, not knowing, and not having the hubris to insist that I know, what preceded that magical moment.
