Artist Andy Thomas paints subjects ranging from Civil War battles to Western scenes to politicians. He calls this painting of Republican presidents "Grand Old Gang," but if my friend Ramon is a reliable guide, it's now going around parts of the Internet with a more pointedly political caption: "So I said to him, 'Barack, I know Abe Lincoln, and you ain't him."

It's a charming painting on its own terms, and the added caption is perfect.
He ain't him indeed. I just finished Team of Rivals, and wondered whether Barack Obama and I had actually read the same book.
