"[Juan] Williams shouldn't be fired for making utterly noncontroversial statements about Muslims being more worrisome on airplanes than Lutherans even if he hadn't "saved" himself with the feel-goodery [...] NPR is a left-liberal's idea of "diversity" -- a taxpayer-extorted fantasyland showcasing diverse opinons all the way from the center left to the hard left."

Juan Williams was not fired for his remarks. He was fired because he is a pundit on FOX. What seemed to slip by everyone is that Mara Liasson has been targeted for her pundit position on the panel of the nightly show on FOX.
I do not always agree with Williams, but he is an honest upright guy, not a lefty wingnut. Probably better off considering the offer he immediately received from FOX.
The most disturbing part of this is that George Soros is buying off NPR and so many other organizations and no one but FOX is really talking about it. I realize FOX is the #1 news outlet on cable, but there are still a lot of folks who listen to the talking heads on the mainstream
